Merry Christmas!

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Christmas and holiday season, I hope that you all are able to find some time to relax and spend quality time with one another and those that you love. Family - it is at the heart of what we do and what matters greatly to all of us. It is important for us all to also remember the true reason for this season: the birth of Christ and the journey of faith that the Holy Family went on. When reflecting upon the journey and birth, I think about many of you who have family traveling into town or those of you who are also traveling. The journey might be filled with excitement, trepidation, and/or weariness - especially given the forecasted weather here in Wisconsin! These feelings have a tendency to evaporate once we have arrived safely/our guests arrive safely at our destination. I can only imagine, though, the feelings that the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph felt after finally arriving at their destination, yet being told that there was no room for them except a small manger out back. Meager lodgings, let alone a place unfit to give birth. Yet, the family was together - ready to welcome the Lord into their midst and to care for Him. While we all gather this Christmas, remember to open a place up for Christ to enter and to preserve the place forever so that He may dwell within you and you within Him forever.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of St. Dominic Catholic School, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
