Saint of Love & Faith

2/13/25 | School Articles | by Ms. Brita Willis

St. Valentine was a priest in Rome during the 3rd century, known for his acts of compassion and love, particularly in helping Christians who were persecuted under Emperor Claudius II. He is best remembered for secretly marrying couples, defying the emperor's orders, and showing great courage in his faith. St. Valentine was eventually martyred for his commitment to love and faith, and his legacy continues to inspire us today to love selflessly and stand up for what is right.

At St. Dominic Catholic School, we strive to nurture this same spirit of love—teaching our students to love God with all their hearts and to love one another as Jesus taught us. In our classrooms, our students are encouraged to practice love, kindness, and respect. Valentine's Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on how we can continue to live out our faith by showing love not only to those closest to us but to all those we encounter. Let us remember that love is not just a feeling but a call to action, one that we are blessed to answer each day as a school community.
