Summer Reading Challenge
Research indicates that students who do not read during the summer months are more likely to experience “summer slide,” a term used to describe what happens when the achievement gains students make during the school year are lost over the summer.
Reading, including listening to others read aloud fluently, during the summer helps keep children’s brains active. Even fifteen or twenty minutes a day can keep your child from losing the new skills they gained during the school year.
I hope the 2019 Summer Knights Reading Challenge helps make reading part of your family’s routine this summer. If you have any questions or are looking for additional resources, please contact me. I would be happy to help support you as the primary
educators of your children.
