"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . [14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father." John 1:1,14
Who is Jesus?
A legend, a prophet, a lunatic, or God?
There are many opinions about who Jesus was or is, or if he even existed at all. But who did Jesus reveal himself to be? What did Jesus say about His own identity in scripture?
Jesus made incredible claims about himself. He claimed to be the divine Son of God, giver of eternal life, forgiver of sins, and the truth - the substantial foundation of reality! These claims were outrageous, and were met with doubt and animosity - so much so that he was put to death. Jesus understood that he would need to present a compelling case for those who would come to believe. What does he give us? The testimony of witnesses, miracles, prophecy, reason, and most importantly, the resurrection.
Bishop Robert Barron tackles the question of who is Jesus:
When Jesus spoke, lives were transformed. He tells us that He is "the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6). His words have amazing power. Whether you are just beginning to seek Christ or have been a believer for years, time spent reading or listening to Word of God can always reveal new truths to an open mind and heart.
