A Foundation for Life
Are you a product of a Catholic School education? If not, do you know why not? One of the most common complaints I hear is about children not following the faith. The single most important influence one can have in that decision is to exhibit in yourself a faith that attracts others. If your children see no difference in your behavior than that of a faithless family, what “pearl of great price” do you actually hold?
The second most precious gift you can give your child is a Catholic school education. Not only does it provide a top academic environment, it also offers a moral and theological foundation to help in our modern world.
Our school offers a place where growing young people, who question everything, can find answers to why they are here and why God made them. Catholic schools, like any place where humans gather, can present challenges in getting along, but seeing and being Christ to each other is a priority here. Presenting a “rule of life” in a child’s formative years offers that foundation of goodness that is sorely needed in today’s culture. Catholic schools provide not only an educational experience on par or better than the public school systems, they offer a moral, social, and spiritual foundation that will prepare the child for success. And success to us is confidence in who you are in God’s wonderful world. This would not be possible without the dedication of our teachers and staff. For them, this is much more than a “job.”
While I believe a Catholic school education is indispensable, I realize it is costly. It is disingenuous to tout Catholic schools' advantages and then make them unaffordable to hardworking families. We, at St. Dominic Catholic School, have resisted the economic trend of transferring the burden of our increasing costs onto our parents by yearly escalating tuition. Because of the continued generosity of our larger parish family, we have been successful.
