About
Welcome! Child Ministry strives to touch children’s lives with God’s love, teach them God’s Word, and offer a sense of community with God’s people by cultivating a life-long personal faith in Jesus Christ and an understanding of their place in the Body of Christ, and their call to serve others in imitation of Christ. We encourage parents of children in preschool through grade 5 to partner with us in the faith formation of their children through involvement in our ministry.
Sacramental Preparation
All children who are of the age of reason (age 7) are eligible to prepare for their first Holy Communion. For children over the age of 8 years old, please contact Mrs. Irvine. Preparation includes:
- A desire to grow in faith and relationship with God through living a sacramental life.
- Enrollment and participation in child formation classes or the day school for two years, with formal preparations for the sacraments of reconciliation and Eucharist happening during the second year. For most children, this means first and second grade.
- Along with formation classes/school attendance, year two includes formal parish and home preparations for both sacraments with reception of reconciliation in fall and Eucharist during the Easter season.
- Active membership at St. Dominic Catholic Parish.
- Weekly attendance at Sunday Mass.
