Mrs. Megan Lilly

3rd Grade Teacher

Office: 262.783.7565, Ext. 259

Mrs. Lilly grew up on a farm near Farley, Iowa. Her family are strong believers in Catholic education and have always been active members in their parish. She and her three siblings attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Farley. Her grandmother was a teacher in a one room school house in rural Iowa before she was married. She had a tremendous spirit and love for education. Mrs. Lilly decided to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and study teaching.

Mrs. Lilly graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa with her B.S. in Elementary Education. Megan graduated early and began her teaching career in January of 1999 when she was hired as a second-grade teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School across the Mississippi River in East Dubuque, IL. She was a full-time teacher in less than a month after her last college course. Mrs. Lilly's first teaching assignment was to prepare the 2nd graders for their first reconciliation and first Holy Communion. She loved being able to bring Jesus to the children and knew God had called her to be a Catholic educator.

While Mrs. Lilly knew her career choice was Catholic education, she also knew she needed to follow her heart. She had met her future husband at Loras College and he lived in Milwaukee. She decided to spend a summer in Wisconsin to get a feel for the area. She ended up staying and taught K4 and K5 a St. Vincent Pallotti in Milwaukee for two years.   She loved teaching the little children, but her Wisconsin teaching license was for grades 1-6, and her heart was set on teaching 2nd or 3rd grade. God answered her prayers and brought her to the St. Dominic family. Megan has been at St. Dominic Catholic School since 2001.

Mrs. Lilly is passionate about learning and strives to pass the love for learning on to her students. She prides herself in creating a safe and welcoming environment. She feels every child should be given the opportunity to grow both mentally and spiritually. Mrs. Lilly uses encouragement, compassion, and kindness to model her faith for her students. She believes by integrating these values into the curriculum she is helping her students become more like Jesus.
