S.M.A.R.T. Team News

Congratulations to our SMART team as they qualified to work with two amazing scientists from the Medical College of Wisconsin. They qualified by successfully modelling the protein insulin at MSOE Qualification Challenge on Saturday, October 12. Our Knights will work with their assigned researchers on modeling the CCR5 bound to its ligand. HIV bids to CCR5 to gain entry into immune cells during HIV infection. A drug called maraviroc has been developed as an anti-viral against HIV. It works by binding CCR5 and blocking HIV from binding and gaining entry to the cell. Super fascinating! Super complicated! Way to go, Knights!
