Welcome Back!

Welcome back! It is so wonderful to be joining you this year as one of the newest knights to our beloved St. Dominic community. Pope Francis states, “The family remains the basic unit of society and the first school in which children learn the human, spiritual and moral values which enable them to be a beacon of goodness, integrity and justice in our communities.” I look forward to partnering with all of you, the first educators of your children, to help achieve our common mission and vision: to educate the whole child.

One of the many blessings of a school like St. Dominic is providing education from three-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade. For an educator there is something special about being able to watch a child learn and grow during that tenure. They are often with us for over ten years of their lives. From the early years of learning the alphabet, to celebrating First Communion, and to the early adolescent years of studying US History and chemical reactions, we are able to be a part of such meaningful learning.

I am excited to begin this new journey with all of you. Great schools are a result of great teachers, staff, parents, and community members. It is my goal to continue to foster the tremendous culture embedded in both the parish and school communities of St. Dominic. I will be working closely with teachers, the office, custodial, and food service staff, along with the Home and School Association and School Advisory Commission, to provide our children with the best opportunities to grow academically, socially, and most importantly, spiritually.

Our Virtue of the Month for September is Faith. Faith is defined for Catholics as “the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that He has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief, because He is truth itself.” At Mass, we often hear the phrase “God is good – all the time. All the time – God is good!” Faith helps us to frequently keep this in perspective and reminds us that, even when it seems like everything is crashing down around us, God is the constant in our lives and always will be. Faith in God always wins the day!
