7th/8th Grade Middle School Math Teacher

Director of Student Support-NEW POSITION
Position Overview:
Our school continues to grow! The Director of Student Support at St. Dominic Catholic School plays a vital role in ensuring the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional well-being of all students. This individual will collaborate with the school principal, teachers, and families to create a supportive, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. The Director will provide guidance on best practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs and will promote positive school culture, student development, and family engagement. Additionally, the Director will support extracurricular programming and facilitate professional development for staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Behavioral Support & Positive Classroom Culture: Support students’ behavioral development and work with teachers to foster positive classroom environments and a school-wide culture of respect, inclusivity, and community, rooted in the Catholic faith.
- Social-Emotional Development Instruction: Teach a monthly class to students in grades K5-8 focused on social-emotional learning topics, promoting friendship, kindness, and personal growth, all within a Catholic foundation and lens. Continue development of these topics in one-on-one and small group settings as needed.
- Family and Student Support: Provide guidance and support for students and families regarding social-emotional development, friendships, conflict resolution, and other related topics.
- Oversee Learning Support Programs & Collaboration with Families and Teachers: Lead and manage the school’s Learning Support initiatives, ensuring alignment with student needs and academic goals. Partner with families and Learning Support teachers to create, review, and implement individualized student learning plans, ensuring appropriate accommodations and interventions are in place to support academic student success.
- Extracurricular Program Liaison: Serve as the liaison between the school and extracurricular programming (e.g., athletics, strings, school musical, scouts), ensuring seamless integration of student support across all school activities.
- Serve on Leadership Team: Work closely with the school principal and other members of the leadership team, reporting on student support initiatives and collaborating on academic student support and social-emotional learning strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Professional Development: Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for faculty and staff related to best practices in student support, differentiation in the classroom, and social-emotional learning.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of student development, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, students, faculty, and administration.
- Expertise in social-emotional learning and behavioral support strategies.
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to fostering a positive school culture.
- Willingness to develop and implement solutions rooted in the Catholic faith and a genuine concern for the well-being of all students.
- Ability to provide professional guidance and develop effective training programs for staff.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Special Education, School Psychology, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in educational leadership, student support services, counseling, or teaching, with significant experience in teaching K-8th grade.
- Knowledge of Catholic education principles and a commitment to fostering a Catholic, respectful learning environment.
